Dr. Kallaya Dangtip is among the four scientists honored by L'Oreal "For Women in Science" Award for 2007, on her work entitled “PmRab7 involved in WSSV infection in shrimp”. Her research involves the study of viral pathogenesis and shrimp response to viral infection using molecular biology techniques. Kallaya is currently based at Center of Excellence for Shrimp Molecular Biology and Biotechnology, or Centex Shrimp.
The ceremony and award presentation took place on 29 May 2007 at the Phayathai Palace and was graciously presided over by Princess Ubolratana. This year recipients, besides Kallaya, are Asst. Prof. Walaya Chongprasert from Ramathibodi Hospital, Prof. Dr. Pramuan Tangboriboonrat from Mahidol University and Assoc. Prof. Metta Chareonpanich from Kasetsart University.

Kallaya is the 4th BIOTEC researcher winning this prestigious award, following Dr. Ubolsree Leartsakulpanich, Mrs. Wansika Kiatpathomchai and Dr. Lily Eurwilaichitr, who were honored in 2003, 2005 and 2006, respectively.
