On 8 January 2009, BIOTEC held an MOU signing ceremony on a collaborative research, license and commercialization agreement with Asia Star Animal Health Co. Ltd (ASAH).

The agreement establishes the framework for BIOTEC and ASAH to develop and potentially commercialize products using BIOTEC’s proprietary targets and technologies in areas related to production of locally made feed enzymes (Aspergillus sp. BCC7178) for use as an additive for land based livestock. Under the agreement, BIOTEC will receive technology access fees, regulatory milestone payments and royalties from sales. BIOTEC and ASAH share the vision which is to use technology development to leverage the local feed additive industry to meet a global demand. For the past ten years, Thailand import of enzymes is on the increase and amount to approximately one billion baht annually.

Dr. Kanyawim Kirtikara, Executive Director of BIOTEC exchanged the signed agreement with Mr. Krit Chockpipatphol, Managing Director of Asia Star Animal Health Co., Ltd.
