On 24-28 February 2016, BIOTEC organized the International Workshop on Microbial Utilization and Management: Sustainable utilization of bioresources for a growing bioeconomy at Sirindhorn Science Home, Thailand Science Park.
The Workshop addresses the management systems of bioresource research centers which is the major foundation of bioeconomy.
In addition to speakers from BIOTEC, there were 8 international experts contributing to the lecture session of this workshop from National Institute of Technology and Evaluation (NITE), Japan; Institute of Microbiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IMCAS); World Data Centre for Microorganisms (WDCM); World Federation for Culture Collections (WFCC), French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS) and Wageningen University & Research Centre. Lab session on fungal identification was held on 27-28 February with expert team from NITE. The Workshop was attended by 78 participants from 12 countries.
To strengthen national and international BRC networks, BIOTEC, as the co-founder of ASEAN Network on Microbial Utilization (AnMicro), provided 10 grants to researchers from ASEAN member states to participate in the workshop.
