On April 21, 2017, BIOTEC held an MOU signing ceremony with the Asahi Industries Co., Ltd., Japan. Presenting at the signing ceremony were Mr. Masanori Murakami, President of Asahi Industries Co., Ltd. and Dr. Somvong Tragoonrung, Executive Director of BIOTEC. The MOU will foster the scientific research on the development of organic fertilizers for sustainable production of vegetables and crops as well as to facilitate the exploration of the commercial possibility of the research output.
Asahi Industries Co., Ltd. was founded on August 16, 1935 and has grown continually. Asahi Industries has diversified into four business segment namely the steel construction, the agricultural materials, the crushed stone and the material recycling. The steel construction material covers the manufacture and sale of deformed steel bars, threaded deformed bars, and structural steel. While the agricultural material segment manufactures, sells and imports fertilizers, horticultural supplies and tools, seeds, and hay. Moreover, Asahi Industries operates the crushed stone and crushed sand which used for engineering works. The material recycling segment of Asahi Industries deals with the intermediate treatment of construction wastes such as wood, glass, pottery and debris as well as and manufactures and sells recycled waste products.
