Dr. Chunya Puttikhunt

Director of Medical Molecular Biotechnology Research Group

Dr. Chunya Puttikhunt earned her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Microbiology from Chulalongkorn University. She completed her Doctorate in Fermentation Technology and Biotechnology at Osaka University, Japan. In 1995, she joined BIOTEC as a researcher, working at a satellite research unit in close collaboration with the dengue research team at the Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University. Currently, she serves as the Director of the Medical Molecular Biotechnology Research Group as of 2023.

Dr. Chunya Puttikhunt’s expertise includes molecular biology and immunology. Her research interests focus on the dengue virus and dengue hemorrhagic fever from various perspectives. She has developed panels of dengue monoclonal antibodies that recognize differential proteins, epitopes, and dengue virus serotypes. These antibodies are valuable for the development of novel dengue diagnostics, vaccines, and for understanding dengue pathogenesis. Dr. Puttikhunt was awarded national and international innovation competitions for her dengue antigen-based serotyping assay. She has over 40 publications in international, peer-reviewed journals, including patents, and prototypes.
