A milestone in cooperation was reached when the MoU on Agricultural and Biotechnology was signed between BIOTEC and the National Institute of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (NIGEB), Iran on February 11, 2021. Held at Thailand Science Park, the ceremony was presided over by H.E. S.R. Nobakhti, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Thailand, Dr. Narong Sirilertworakul, NSTDA President, and Dr. Wonnop Visessanguan, BIOTEC’s Executive Director.
The signing ceremony was followed by BIOTEC’s facility visit and potential collaboration discussion. Topics on the use of microbes as biocontrol agents, gene editing in ornamental plants, diagnostic technology for COVID-19, as well as micro-propagation of cash crops, are initially identified as areas of interest.
