In August 2023, the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA), signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for Cooperation in Aquaculture Research and Development with the Jeollabuk-do Fisheries Research Institute (JFRI), Republic of Korea. As part of this collaboration, Dr. Sorawit Powtongsook, Director of the Integrative Aquaculture Biotechnology Research Group at the National Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (BIOTEC), along with Mr. Seksun Sartsatit, Senior Researcher at the National Electronics and Computer Technology Center (NECTEC), visited the Jeollabuk-do Fisheries Research Institute in July 2023. Possible collaborations involved sharing knowledge and technology with Korean researchers regarding the SMART recirculating aquaculture system (SMART-RAS) for black tiger shrimp cultivation. Additionally, discussions were held about conducting further research into the application of artificial intelligence and sensor technology in aquaculture.
