On October 8, 2025, BIOTEC welcomed a delegation from the Institute of Microbiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IMCAS) to discuss collaboration in bioresource utilization and infectious diseases. IMCAS delegation, led by Professor Qian Wei, Director-General of IMCAS, and Professor Ma Juncai, Director of the World Data Center for Microorganisms (WDCM), met with Dr. Warinthorn Songkasiri, Deputy Executive Director of BIOTEC, along with BIOTEC researchers and staff.

The meeting focused on expanding cooperation between the two institutions in four key areas: linking microbial bioresource databases between TBRC and WDCM, conducting joint research on bioresource utilization and infectious diseases, and exchanging researchers to strengthen scientific capabilities.

BIOTEC and IMCAS have maintained a strong partnership through the Thailand–China Joint Laboratory on Microbial Biotechnology, established in 2018. Since its establishment, the joint lab has attracted funding from both local and international agencies for nearly 10 collaborative projects.
