Aquatic Animal Health Research Team

Aquatic Animal Health Research Team (AQHT) emphasis researches and developments for strengthening shrimp health and shrimp pathogens/diseases control. Researches on shrimp health aims to develop a strategy to enhance/activate shrimp immune status allowing the appropriated growth rate and disease resistant/tolerance. Researches on pathogen/disease control aims to understand emerging and re-emerging disease, diseases etiology, mechanism of infection including development of farmer-friendly detection tools allowing the farmers to develop the rapid and effective control
measures for pathogens/diseases, with an emphasis on environmentally-friendly approaches. Knowledge and information will be continuously shared and communicated with farmers, industry and other relevant stakeholders both at the national and international level. Research collaboration will be provided to support national strategies on aquatic animal health management.

Services Provided

In order to accelerate the design of the strategies to improve shrimp health or to control shrimp pathogen/diseases, we provide both commissioned and collaborative research involved the testing of active compounds or methodology or consultation based on the scientific information or knowledge obtained from our basic research. We also provide the technical support for shrimp pathogen detection.
