August 28, 2018 — BIOTEC, in collaboration with Thailand Institute of Scientific and Technological Research (TISTR), organized a follow-up meeting as part of the activities under the Thailand – China Joint Laboratory on Microbial Biotechnology. The meeting was held at Thailand Science Park, home to BIOTEC. A Meeting provides an arena for Thai and Chinese researchers to plan their collaborative research activities for the year 2019.
The meeting proved fruitful as a new research topic on biodiversity of cave fungi was discussed and agreed to commence in 2019. It is the latest edition to the existing four research topics to be carried out by BIOTEC, TISTR, Chinese Academy of Science (IMCAS) and Institute of Hydrobiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IHCAS).
Thailand – China Joint Laboratory on Microbial Biotechnology is a new initiative project under the Science and Technology Partnership Program (STEP), a collaborative mechanism between Ministry of Science and Technology of Thailand and China. A Joint Lab aims to promote joint research and development in the field of microbial biotechnology which are mutually beneficial to the three institutes.
