Molecular Biology of Dengue
and Flaviviruses Research Team
Molecular Biology of Dengue and Flaviviruses Research Team, belonging to BIOTEC, has strengthened over 20-year cooperation and partnerships with Division of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever Research, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University; to conduct the research and development in order to combat with dengue diseases, with the connection of local and international research networks. Our past-to-present research outputs include various aspects; i.e., understanding of dengue immunopathogenesis, development of prototypes of potential dengue vaccines as well as dengue diagnosis, and establishment of dengue hospital cohorts to collect high quality clinical banks of specimens and databases for strengthened research values. Currently, our interests move closer to translational research to explore potential repurposing drugs which displayed active anti-dengue properties and promptly to be conducted Phase II-III clinical trial evaluation in dengue infected patients. In addition, we also expand our interest to apply newly advanced molecular biological tools to achieve our goals, for examples, generation of new concept vaccine strains of dengue and other flaviviruses, such as Zika virus, and generation of human monoclonal antibodies from patients’ blood circulation, as potential anti-viral drugs or vaccines.
