(18 October 2023) Rayong, Thailand – Thailand’s government has embarked on a transformative journey — the Green Recovery policies — aiming to bolster its economy while minimizing the environmental footprint. The policies are designed to harness the country’s natural assets with utmost care for the environment, ensuring sustainable growth. This commitment aligns with the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation’s policy led by Ms. Supamas Isarabhakdi, Minister, emphasizing “market-driven research and innovation” that addresses the country’s pivotal issues.
BIOTEC-NSTDA’s Durian Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) stands as a testament to our unwavering commitment. In collaboration with the Department of Agricultural Extension (DOAE)’s Rayong Provincial Agricultural Extension Office, BIOTEC-NSTDA’s Biocontrol Technology Research Team jointly organized a training workshop titled ‘Harnessing Nature’s Arsenal: Mastering Disease and Pest Management in Durian through Biological Solutions.’ This workshop offered a step-by-step, comprehensive approach to pest and disease management in durian fields by harnessing the power of biological products. It reduces the reliance on chemical usage and addresses the challenge of detecting chemical residues, ultimately enhancing the quality of durian to meet international export standards.
BIOTEC-NSTDA’s Durain SOP not only aids in pest and disease management but also aligns with the principles of the Green Recovery policies, fostering a harmonious balance between agricultural productivity and ecological preservation. It underscores our commitment to aligning economic growth with environmental responsibility.
