Strengthening Ties: QuarkBio Taiwan Visits BIOTEC for Precision Health Collaboration

On 13 January 2025, Dr. Chung Fan Lee, Vice President of Quark Biosciences, Taiwan, visited the National Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (BIOTEC), a member of the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA). She was welcomed by Asst. Prof. Dr. Chaowaree Adthalungrong, BIOTEC Executive Director, Dr. Kobkul Loateng, Acting Deputy Executive Director, and relevant researchers.

The discussions centered on precision health, with BIOTEC showcasing key initiatives such as the Genomics Thailand project, the Thai gut microbiome database for personalized food design, antimicrobial resistance (AMR) research, and precision nutrition studies.

In August 2024, BIOTEC, Taiwan’s Food Industry Research and Development Institute (FIRDI), and Quark Biosciences Inc. (QuarkBio) signed a five-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on precision health solutions utilizing microbial testing. This visit further strengthens the partnership between QuarkBio and BIOTEC, paving the way for future advancements in precision health research.
