BIOTEC-NSTDA, BAAC Phichit, and Provincial Agricultural Council recently collaborated in an event ; Thai Rice Innovations during Climate Change (February 2025).
The aim of the event was to introduce to Pichit farmers the concept of actively fostering secure Supply Chains and encoraging better connections between Growers and Mills.

Phichit – The National Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (BIOTEC), the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA) under the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI), in collaboration with the Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives (BAAC) Phichit Branch and the Phichit Provincial Farmers Council, organized a training workshop to transfer knowledge on the production of new rice varieties that are resilient to climate change, including drought, floods, and rising temperatures, to elevate the community economy in five districts of Phichit Province. Recently (late February 2025), a roadshow presented information on four new rice varieties: BIOTEC Rice 1, Hom Siam Rice, Hom Siam Rice 2, and Hom Chonlasit Rice 2, which are innovative alternative rice varieties.

The event also introduced technologies for producing high-quality rice seeds, techniques for rice production with reduced carbon emissions, and agricultural AI applications and technologies to enhance rice production efficiency. Furthermore, it aimed to create a secure supply chain by connecting rice farmers and mill operators, enabling farmers to increase their income and mill operators to obtain desired rice varieties.
