Dr. Piti was honored for his research on “Prophenoloxidase system and its role in shrimp immune response against major pathogens”. In this study, he performed a knowledge discovering model of the Melanization by prophenoloxidase (proPO) activation cascade-mediated melanization in shrimp Penaeus monodon, based on the data derived from gene knockdown and biochemical experiments. The knowledge gained from this research will be useful for a better understanding of the shrimp immunity and can be applied for disease control of shrimp aquaculture.
